A deciduous shrub up to 2.5 m tall, with thin shiny medium-green elliptical leaves and early to mid summer white flowers.
Bark is coarse, reddish and peeling. Leaves are narrowly elliptic 4-8cm in length with pointed ends. Flowers grow axillary clusters on previous year’s growth, are white, bell shaped.
Grows in mountains at elevations above 1,000 meters and predominantly in dense to partially forested moist mountain slopes.
