A perennial herb with a woody stembase and ray and disk yellow flowers.
Leaves are basal, triangular to heart shaped, strongly toothed 2.5-10cm. Stem leaves are larger 0.4-8.5cm. Flowers are ray and disk, sparsely hairy, yellow in colour 7-14mm.
Found in streambanks, avalanche tracks, forest openings and moist to mesic meadows in lowland to lower alpine zones.
