Douglas maple
Acer glabrum
Deciduous shrub or small tree, up to 10 m (32 ft) tall; young twigs reddish; bark greyish to reddish-purple, 3-5 lobed, coarsely toothed leaves.
Common throughout BC, except Queen Charlotte Islands, the adjacent coast and the northeast of the province, in mesic to dry forests and rocky slopes in the lowland and montane zones.
