Medium to tall multi-stemmed shrub recognizable for its bright pinkish red berries.
Alternating leaves are oblong to oblong egg-shaped, smooth and rusty/hairy below. Coarsely saw-toothed and rounded or blunt tipped. Berries are nearly globe shaped, pinkish/red 8-10mm.
Found in moist open forests, thickets, meadows, streambanks in montane to alpine zones.
