Picea glauce
A large evergreen conifer with thin, scaly, flaky bark.
Needles are 12-20mm long, blue/green in colour. Seed cones are slender and cylindrical when closed and broaden when open. Cones are green/reddish turning brown when mature. Typical height is 15-30m with trunk diameters up to 1m.
Common to bogs and fens, wet and dry slopes in montane and subalpine zones.
